Cordwood
Construction Workshop (pdf) - .Each day is a mix of classroom
and hands-on work. Classroom sessions include general cordwood information,
power point presentations, and discussions of the various styles of
cordwood houses, as well as the various species of wood (and how long
to dry them). Hands-on sessions include demonstrations by the instructors,
and plenty of individually supervised handson practice by the students.
The workshop project will be 12” cordwood infilling of a postand- beam framed 12’ x 16’ storage building. Sandy will be using this for her furniture business. High quality-control assures that the students learn visually pleasing techniques, as well as structurally sound and energy-efficient construction methods. |

have 22 years experience in conducting cordwood workshops, individual/couple
mortaring sessions and training work crews on cordwood job sites.

College Ecovillage and will begin at 9:30 am and are scheduled until

Building
- Building a low impact den. This course will take place over 2 weekends
and the week in between. The emphasis will be on learning as you do
it, so we will lay out the plot, make a simple design for a cobwood
den to sleep two people, prepare the materials and build it! It will
use the cobwood method used in my roundhouse, but without a wooden
pole structure, so in this respect it will be an experimental building.
