Sculptures like these by artist Nora Naranjo-Morse
are a good way to get the feel of natural materials for
building. They were built with the help of the well known
straw bale builders and experts in decorative plasters,
Bill &
Athena Steen. These are three of five sculptures made from
natural materials including bamboo, straw, clay, yam vines and
black locust wood. Left to right the sculptures represent
'father', 'mother' and 'little one'. They stand on the
